Powerboat courses are run to assist the main activity of the club by providing safe competent drivers for the rescue boats which accompany sailing and racing at the club. The club operates a number of 4m Dories and 5m RIBS with engines ranging from 25-50hp. Full details of all powerboat courses are available in the RYA Powerboating Logbook available from the Office.
The Level 2 course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to be a competent powerboat driver. The Safety boat course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes for racing or training activities.
If you have the equivalent of at least one full seasons powerboating experience then you can take a direct assessment for the Level 2 Certificate.
